Use headphones instead of the speaker phone or computer sound when talking to patients. A privacy screen can help to mitigate the risk of someone seeing your phone or computer screen when you have patient information present. Do not share information about your patients with others, and do not share your password to The Grove with anyone. Do not use public Wifi. If you still are not sure, please reach out to info@grapefruit.health.

Please refer to the escalation policy page here. At times, you may come across a patient who is in medical or mental distress or abusive situation. We need to know how to handle these situations as they occur because we are calling them non-medical professionals, and we cannot give patients advice on what they should do. Please remind patients that you are a student and unable to give medical advice. When we have a patient like this, we need to take detailed notes about what is going on and inform the patient if they feel like they are having an emergent situation to call 911 or go to the emergency department. If they feel it is not an emergent case, we should let them know they should see their PCP. Please ensure you make a note reflecting you informed the patient of this information.
