How do you ensure students are performing quality care?

Prior to launching a program, we work directly with clients’ team to build out a training program that’s approved by their teams. After launch, our clinical staff listens to student calls to ensure students are following protocols and workflows. Over time, we analyze quality metrics to identify students who are underperforming and over performing compared to the average. If needed, we provide additional coaching. In other words, we utilize the same controls as any other remote call center in healthcare, but with a more personalized touch.

What types of students do you recruit?

We recruit students enrolled in clinical degrees. This includes pre-med, nursing, social work, pharmacy, social work, psychiatry, and much more. We custom build a workforce for each program we run with our partners.

How do you recruit students?

We recruit students enrolled in clinical programs from top schools across the US. We run our own hiring process, have minimum GPA and degree requirements, and see an average of 20 applicants per job opening.

How are students vetted?

We accept roughly 5% of students who apply to become a Patient Champion. All applicants must pass a background check and complete a multi-step interview process. We also require a minimum GPA. After hire, we employ a Quality Assurance process to ensure that Patient Champions are delivering quality work.

 All of our clients are given access to our students over curated webinars and receive insights about top performers. We also email your job postings to our community of students.

We created Grapefruit Health to make a massive impact in communities around the country, with a focus on the clinical student and how they can help us achieve this. By being low lost, with great scale, and requiring just a telephone from our patients, we really can reach everyone!

“Why did you choose the name Grapefruit Health?”

The Grapefruit is our fruit analogy for healthcare. It is often hard to understand, segmented, requires specialized tools to consume it, and very complex, but if you do it right it can be delicious!

“How much do you charge for your services?”

We charge between $5-10 per successful interaction. If the patient does not answer, the call drops, goes to voicemail, or wrong/bad number, we do not charge at all. We know this is extremely low cost, but we know that this will allow us to do a higher volume of interactions thereby making a much bigger impact.

“How do we ensure students are performing quality care?”

We review student calls to assess their skills and provide coaching in the first couple of weeks after starting. We then assess quality metrics to assess calls by students who are under performing and highly over performing compared to average student. In other words, we utilize the same controls as any other remote call center in healthcare, but with major advantages.
